Financial Planner Jamie Phythian deals with succession planning every day and recognised that for E.S. Walton & Co to last another 47 years they had to think long term with their recruitment, so he contacted Graduate to Merseyside for advice. Having already placed over 630 graduates, a clear role for a Graduate Trainee Financial Planner was developed alongside a tailored recruitment plan.
With the position requiring experience of administration, report writing and dealing with both corporate and individual clients, it needed a candidate with the drive and enthusiasm to deal with day-to-day enquires whilst studying to pass their Financial Planning exams with the Charted Insurance Institute (CII).
Having been provided with several excellent candidates the one that stood out was University of Liverpool English graduate Luke Nicholson who not only had the sales, customer service and marketing experience they required but the enthusiasm and attitude to succeed.
A month into his new job and Luke is settling in and impressing, already working on utilising his experience in marketing to expand the clientele of E.S. Walton. Jamie is delighted with the service from Graduate to Merseyside and optimistic with Luke’s future at the company:

Luke has also shown a propensity to be self-sufficient, he has been given tasks to discover local professionals and improve our marketing material, another skillset of his we will continue to utilise, his autonomous nature is invaluable to a small firm like ourselves."
