Liverpool and Sefton Chambers of Commerce Update

Just over a year ago Liverpool and Sefton Chambers of Commerce recruited University of Liverpool English Language and Literature graduate Kathryn Ashman and has recently been promoted to Marketing Manager!

Liverpool and Sefton Chambers of Commerce is the premier business association in the area that looks to support the development, growth and sustained economic viability of its members and the wider business community of the Liverpool City Region. With over 1400 members they offer plenty of opportunities to network as well as support services and expert advice.

Last year Chief Executive, Jenny Stewart, contacted Graduate to Merseyside and recruited University of Liverpool English Language and Literature graduate Kathryn Ashman as a Graduate Policy Executive to work alongside the Chamber’s business engagement team (see original success story). Kathryn made such an impact during the past 12 months that she has now been promoted to the Chamber’s Marketing Manager!

In her new role Kathryn is responsible for pulling together the chamber’s marketing and communications strategy, which is a critical function within the Chamber. Jenny is delighted with the impact Kathryn has made and how quickly she has become an integral part of the Chamber:

“Kathryn has made a huge contribution in her first twelve months and displayed great ambition in applying for a management position within her first year. She excelled at interview as she has all year and we’re really excited about the skills she will bring to this role”

Kathryn explains how working for a smaller company has helped her career progress much quicker than she expected:

“I didn’t expect to be in a management position so quickly but I am a naturally ambitious person who saw the opportunity at the Chamber and took it. I’m really pleased with how my career has progressed since joining and I’m excited by the new role. Excelling at a smaller organisation has certainly opened up opportunities that may take longer in a bigger company.”

Graduates are not trainees forever and can quickly become important parts of your company taking on further responsibilities and delivering measurable benefits just like Kathryn at Liverpool and Sefton Chambers of Commerce.
