Dealing with a vast range of data that you will not come across in any other role, you will work on a range of issues of national and international importance.   We are currently looking for 20 Data Analysts to join our fast-paced teams in Liverpool (7) & Manchester (13), as well as for other areas of the UK – in roles that will define your career and give you a unique perspective of the UK economy using access to sensitive information that only crosses the desks of those who are ready for an undeniable challenge.    Working on the type of issues that are making headlines, you will take on a huge variety of projects that have the scope to make a real difference to the lives of the public.   With each project lasting around one to two months, you will work across multiple concepts at the same time, benefitting from a genuine depth of variety in an ever-changing environment. With our innovative training programme, you will be supported by a mentor while you combine your studies with on-the-job experience over a 12-month period.   Furthermore, you will be given the opportunity to take up extra training in areas such as programming languages, meaning this role is open to interpretation – and giving you a real chance to launch a career within HMRC.    To thrive in this collaborative team, you will have the relevant qualifications, with a passion for learning. Get in touch today, and let’s discuss where your career could take you.    Person specification: Our Data Analysts employ analytical skills to design and deliver products that identify individuals businesses and taxpayer behaviours of greatest risk to the UK economy.    Essential:  Be proficient in using applications to manipulate multiple data sets, for example, using Excel to merge, analyse and consolidate data using pivot tables, functions and charts.  Be comfortable in learning to use new tools and large data sets, including taxpayer, government, public and commercially available data.  Be a good communicator, have an idea of how to influence management and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.  Work with challenging stakeholders to identify and clarify the overall scope and requirements of analytical work.  Be able to manage conflicting demands and priorities and provide progress updates.  Have a proven ability to be flexible and deliver to tight deadlines.    Desirable:  Experience of delivering analytical projects in an analytical or statistics related field.  Be proficient in the use of analytical software such as SAS, SQL and Pentaho or another package to manipulate complex data sets.
