Cirrus Purchasing

Wirral based Cirrus Purchasing, a specialist purchasing and supply consultancy; recruits Leeds Metropolitan University Marketing graduate Claire Gamble.



When the managing director of Cirrus Purchasing, Simon Reed, set up his specialist purchasing and supply consultancy he knew that graduate talent was going to play a key part in the company’s growth. Yet perhaps unusually, he wasn’t looking for the perfect match of degree subject with job role; instead he recognised the potential of employing intelligent young staff with the ability to learn and adapt.


An increasingly mobile business model, thanks to cloud computing and wireless connectivity, meant that the risk associated with recruiting ‘raw’ talent was offset by the removal of overheads linked to office premises; each member of staff works from home or wherever they have an internet connection.  There are now six employees (including three graduates) accessing office systems via the web and using tools such as Skype to carry out team meetings.


Claire Gamble, (BA Hons Marketing) is the most recent recruit, taking responsibility for data handling, managing the tendering process and undertaking research in areas such as contract law, as well as providing support to senior consultants.


Claire is full of praise for the Graduate to Merseyside service: “I love it! I was really struggling to find the right job and the staff there gave me a real boost. I attended the Graduate Fair in September 2011 and within a couple of months I was employed here!”
