Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, the premier business association that supports the development, growth and sustained economic viability of its members and the wider business community; recruits University of Liverpool English Language and Literature graduate Kathryn Ashman.
Liverpool Chamber of Commerce is the premier business association in the area that looks to support the development, growth and sustained economic viability of its members and the wider business community of the Liverpool City Region. With over 1400 members they offer plenty of opportunities to network as well as support services and expert advice.
Chief Executive, Jenny Stewart, contacted Graduate to Merseyside looking to recruit a Graduate Policy Executive to become an important part of the Chamber’s business engagement team. Representing the Chamber in front of senior level Directors they required a candidate who could cope with the high-profile nature and varied responsibilities of the role.
Graduate to Merseyside Team Manager, Steve Wood, was able to identify a large pool of quality candidates very quickly. With extensive experience working as a Junior Caseworker and Campaigner for Luciana Berger (MP for Liverpool Wavertree), as well as other relevant work experience throughout her studies, University of Liverpool English Language and Literature graduate Kathryn Ashman stood out as an outstanding candidate and was offered the role.
Kathryn has made an instant impact and has already taken ownership of several business sector groups and committees within the Chamber, notably in Arts & Culture, Energy & Environment, Digital & Creative and Charity & Corporate Social Responsibility. A key element of her role in the forthcoming year will be supporting a low carbon project being run by the chamber.
Jenny is very pleased with the service provided by Graduate to Merseyside:
“Graduate to Merseyside were very supportive throughout the recruitment process. Steve understood what calibre of candidate we required and sourced several worthy candidates, of whom Kathryn was particularly outstanding.”
Kathryn’s line manager, Paul Cherpeau, is impressed with Kathryn’s skills and attributes:
“The role we have given to Kathryn is complex and frequently unpredictable and we have given her a lot of responsibility in a short time. I’m delighted with her progress in these early months which bode well for a successful career beginning here at the Chamber.
Kathryn is extremely happy with the Graduate to Merseyside service too:
“I was absolutely delighted when I was offered a graduate position through Graduate to Merseyside. The process was incredibly efficient and I was given every opportunity to showcase my skills and experience. A must for graduates!”
Gone are the days of graduates left University with no work experience. As shown by Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, today’s graduates now have a wide range of skills drawn from various roles in addition to their studies that makes them ready for the world of work.
