The New Business Development Club, a Liverpool based business support consultancy, recruits University of Liverpool English and University of Liverpool Management School Consumer Marketing Masters graduate Bethany Atkin to help deliver their new publication "Switch on to Business".
Lin Boyd, Bethany Atkin (both NBDC) & Steve Wood (Graduate to Merseyside)
Managing Directors, Lin Boyd and Jackie Lee, were keen to expand the business and set up a new publication with the aim of being “The Voice of Businesses” across Liverpool and the surrounding areas. However, to get the magazine launched she needed somebody with publishing and marketing experience to help produce and promote it.
Fortunately, at a local networking event Lin spoke to Steve Wood, Project Manager of Graduate to Merseyside, who explained that a graduate would have the skills and experience to help her. Eager to proceed, Lin with the help of Paula Ashton, HR Consultant of Ashton People Solutions, created a project brief for Steve to find the perfect graduate.
Step forward - Bethany Atkin, a University of Liverpool Management School Consumer Marketing Masters graduate with over three years’ experience working within publishing through various work placements and editorial roles. Bethany was ideal to help set up and promote their new publication.
Set with the task of producing, sourcing and editing all content and graphics as well as securing valuable advertising revenue, Bethany was keen to showcase her talent; two months later she is happy to announce that the very first issue of “Switch on to Business” will be available from 1st May 2015. Taking a practical and knowledgeable approach to business, it is packed with articles, features and news for readers from established organisations or new to the business world.
Lin and Jackie are very excited about the magazine’s launch and the work Bethany has put into it:
“Having Beth on the team has been invaluable. The work that Jackie and I do is split between managing the NBDC on a voluntary basis and bringing the Switch on to Business concept to life, so we needed someone who could hit the ground running, make important decisions and fully understand the concept and what we are looking to achieve. Beth has delivered that and more! I would advise any business looking for talent, dedication and skill to look at the University propositions and take advantage of the fabulous young talent that we have in Liverpool.”
Bethany is delighted with the opportunity and is thankful to Graduate to Merseyside:
“Having only worked with the company for a month, I can state with absolute candour that I would be willing to work for Lin, Jackie, and the NBDC team for the long term. I am honoured to have been selected to represent and create the magazine, and I have worked hard to do it justice. Thank you to those at Graduate to Merseyside, who helped me secure the role and have been so kind and helpful throughout the entire process.”
If your business has an important project that would benefit from the skills, experience and enthusiasm a graduate can bring, why not follow The New Business Development Club’s example and contact the team.
